A Better Stay is one of the most rewarding projects I've had the opportunity to work on. From the beginning, the goal was clear: create a digital experience that feels as premium and polished as the service Vanessa delivers, one that immediately signals to prospective clients that working with A Better Stay means being in the hands of an experienced property manager.
Vanessa came in with a strong sense of her brand identity and the key messages she wanted to communicate on her website. From there, she trusted me with full creative ownership over the design and functionality of the site. That level of trust between client and designer allowed the project to reach its full potential.
Visual Design
The foundation of any successful web design is the visual language: typography, color, and imagery. Vanessa wanted her business to feel luxurious and premium, so that her target audience of Airbnb property managers would feel as though they found a premium, full-service partner.
I selected Raleway font for its elegant, thin, and refined look that reinforces the premium brand. I then handpicked photography of Arizona homes to incorporate throughout the layout that would showcase the experience Vanessa has and help prospective clients see themselves working with her. Lastly, I chose bright and subtle shades of light gray for the background colors to keep the user focused on the material on the webpages. Otherwise, the premium photos add plenty of color to the site.
Hero & Review Sections
I always start my website designs with the hero section (the first thing a user sees when they visit your website). First impressions make a huge difference online. Successfully positioning a brand in those first few seconds can determine whether a visitor converts or bounces. I wanted it to feel big, bold, and extremely premium and luxurious, so we could clearly communicate Vanessa’s brand from the get-go.
Further down the homepage, the testimonials section has only six reviews in it but looks like many more than that. I loved that I could make it look full of reviews with a simple slider component that both brought that section to life and made Vanessa seem more popular.
User Experience
To keep up with the premium feel of the site, everything had to feel smooth and easy as users navigated the site. The animations are clean and quick, and everything flows to the pages that you would expect. In website design, it's incredibly important to keep up with the expectations of your user. If you can deliver content that they're expecting in a layout they're familiar with, they won't have to think as hard when they click through your site, and you will earn their trust as a result. Crystal clear sites perform much better than sites that try too hard to be fancy with distracting features.
